A new method for determining BIC based on BS-SEM images.\u201d<\/p>\n
This doctoral thesis falls within the field of implantology as part of a project aimed at improving clinical predictions as regards implants. The first part of the study establishes a procedure for analysing images to measure bone implant contact (BIC) by an objective, systematic approximation based on back-scattered scanning electronic microscope images (BS-SEM). In the second part, in order to test the hypothesis that the measurements of the implants\u2019 stability using resonance frequency analysis (RFA) correlate with the histomorphometric data (BIC), an experiment was carried out with beagle dogs. Finally, in order to clarify the currently controversial relationship between RFA and the histomorphometric parameters, the literature published on this discipline over recent decades was reviewed.<\/p>\n
